As thousands have re-situated themselves here in New Jersey, the Synagogue of Deal is credited with playing a major role in the development of and the blossoming of what has occurred here over the past two generations.

It has hosted countless celebratory events, - bar mitzvahs, brit milahs, sebets, engagements, holiday parties, etc. while serving as a spiritual anchor for an ever-growing community as its presence increasingly permeated the 'Jewel of the Jersey Shore', - Deal, NJ.

Place that instills moral ethics and values

Amazing place.

Dun dun

At one time, in it's earliest years, the Synagogue did not open in the winter months, except for holidays when members would come into town to utilize their (primarily) summer homes. As things progressed, some families chose to occupy their homes year-round, and the Synagogue was there to address their needs.

Over time, approximately one dozen more Synagogues emerged in the surrounding areas to accommodate the growth in population as more and more chose to reside either seasonally or permanently in the various connecting towns. Most recently, the trend has been towards overhauling many of those Congregations and turning them into World-Class structures in terms of their physical presence. Even in that light, the Synagogue of Deal still remains a great pioneer, that paved the way for all the rest to happen, that proudly enjoys its glorious past, and continues to provide a robust day-in-day-out and week-in-week-out home to the spiritual / religious needs of its congregants.

Great synagogue

Back in the early 1970's, a group of men, perhaps a dozen in total, had a vision. They were certain that more families would be coming to the area, and that it would be wise to secure a location and build the Synagogue of Deal. I recall, as do many, the various businesses that operated on that block, including Hiram's Cleaners and others. I also can recall who most of these visionary and committed men were in that time, including my own father. The Synagogue of Deal, commonly referred to as "Deal Shul" for all these years, has experienced trial, error and tribulation in the 45 years since then. It has been blessed with great Rabbinical and Lay-leadership, including Mr. Joe D. Bibi, A'H'', Mr. David "Davey Miz" Mizrahi A'H'', Mr. Jack Adjmi, A'H'', and others.
